After returning with a few singles in recent months, in August Big Pink announced the details of their third LP, "The Love That's Ours": the album, which will be released on September 30th via Project Melody Music, comes after over ten and a half years from the previous, “Future This”.Produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Air, Phoenix), the album features numerous guests including Jamie T, Jamie Hince (The Kills), Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Ryn Weaver, Mary Charteris and Ed Harcourt, solo to name a few.Now the British band is sharing a new single, “Safe And Sound”, which you can listen to below.Frontman Robbie Furze says: “Dancing with these vultures in my fugitive apartment”, “Angels with their wings clipped gunning for the love that's ours”.“These lines sum up the record perfectly.I moved to Los Angeles to find my record and found it, but at a high price.I have been chased by every temptation known to mankind.I was promised love.Wealth was promised to me.I was promised the world.Drugs, women, fame, all the clichés that haunted me and bit at my heels.I found myself in it.I got carried away and got lost. Now I can raise my hands and admit it.“For a while I lost my wife.I lost my family and friends and most of all I lost my mind.“This song,“ Safe & Sound ”, was born in a moment of pure clarity, when I realized that I had to turn my life around and make this record.“I was stuck in my apartment as a fugitive and these people weren't angels at all, but they wanted to take away everything I loved!“The process of writing this song started with an author named Peter Stengaard and it wasn't the easiest of the writing sessions.I couldn't hear the song and understand where we wanted to go.Peter, I think, realized this and took me to this beautiful white piano in the back of his house. He told me to sing the chorus, "you, me and the piano", and suddenly the spring went out and the whole song came to life.I could feel it!The whole song showed up on its own.“I immediately called Ryn Weaver and told her that I was on the verge of something special and that she could meet me in my studio that very night to let her hear it.The moment she heard the first line she understood exactly what I was trying to say.We talked for a long time about the feeling of purgatory I was in and then the words of the verses came out on their own.I am very proud of these lyrics and they are truly the most personal on the record. In the years I was in Los Angeles, I had created a rather dark place for myself. This song was the turning point.
