Dice detailed some of the options that players may encounter in the battlefield portal of Battlefield 2042's map customization tool, and there are many more. It will show you some of your favorite maps from Bad Company 2 and the old battlefield, and then let you adjust them at will by adding various vehicles, rules, etc. I personally hope to see many old songs with 2042 new cute grappling hooks. Each map can be improved by grappling hooks.
In his Battlefield Portal preview, Brendy has seen some of the fun Portal can bring-such as shooting a small map and throwing 128 players on it, giving everyone an RPG, or changing the player's running speed to make everyone zoom in. But there is more. Like, so much.
First of all, Dice said that when the game starts, they will prepare a bunch of pre-made classic maps waiting for you. You can choose to play these games as they are, adjust them further according to your personal preferences, or add some weird rules (for example, when a team loses, a stimulating message pops up on the screen).
To start making the "Battlefield Portal" mode, you need to visit its dedicated website (after the game is over). Here, you can browse those pre-made things, or go directly and design from scratch. First, you will choose from a series of game modes, including conquer large, conquer, sprint, melee and team deathmatch. Then, before getting into the details, you will choose one of 33 map layouts (from 2042 and the old battlefield).
You will be able to choose rule sets and modifiers, decide whether you need extreme weather, friendly shooting, aiming assistance or more. There will be sliders for headshot damage, body damage, projectile speed, and options to determine whether the player will drop weapons and ammunition upon death.
Most importantly, you will be able to use vehicles, weapons and gadgets from old games, and even mix and match things from different eras. Portal also allows you to decide whether you want the robot to fill the player's position in PvP mode or just for PvE. You will be able to change the AI rules so that the robot also has different modifiers for your human players.
I strongly recommend that you read the full blog post to understand how much you can change. I've said it before, but I have never flexed its muscles in a battlefield. However, reading all this? Man, maybe I want to get a map!
