Blade is effective at taking down vampiric threats, and in art from an upcoming Midnight Suns tie-in, he gets an upgrade his MCU counterpart needs!

The badass vampire hunter hero known as Blade is a character synonymous with the kinds of weapons that can slice and dice anyone unfortunate enough to cross his path, and in a new piece of art from an upcoming issue of the Midnight Suns comic, this Daywalker gets a wild weapons upgrade that needs to find its way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as soon as possible!

A variant cover for the soon-to-be-released Midnight Suns #2, by writer Ethan Sacks and artist Luigi Zagaria, this NetEase Games cover also acts as tie-in art for the popular mobile game Marvel Duel. With more covers releasing in the next couple of months that showcase other characters from the game, fans can expect ones featuring Scarlet Witch, Black Panther, Ant-Man, and more, with this Blade art showing off a glimpse of what’s to come.

A character no doubt chosen for this particular cover since he was an original member of the Midnight Suns back in the early 90s, Blade is a vampire-killer who’s perfected the art of turning these creatures of the night into a pile of dust. Part of a supernatural team that also consisted of Ghost Rider, Morbius, and Doctor Strange, this new iteration of the group switches things up with Magik, Wolverine, Spirit Rider, and Nico Minoru added to the mix. And with this miniseries bringing some Marvel Duel-related flair to the creative table on top of shoving the Midnight Suns back into the spotlight, this Blade cover gives his MCU counterpart some inspiration he needs to take note of.

Standing poised in attack mode as he glares through sunglass-covered eyes, Blade holds two sharp swords at the ready, with two more strapped to his back for good measure. And while it’s true that Blade always has some sort of sharp object at his side in comics along with any number of other tools of the trade, this art shows him equipped with far more pointy things than usual, justifying his name and giving his movie character an in for being festooned with more blades than you can shake a wooden stake at when he shows up onscreen.

Regardless of the sharp and pointy status of his arsenal once he enters the MCU proper, Blade will still undoubtedly be the vampire-killing badass fans know and love him as. But with Blade’s big screen debut still a ways off, this Midnight Sun’s cover is a tantalizing promise of an upgrade that the movie should try to incorporate.
