A Dungeons & Dragons Game Master asked his players to be in his wedding party by creating custom miniatures, dice, and dice bags for each of them.

As a collaborative game first and foremost, Dungeons and Dragons has been responsible for forging bonds of friendship hard as steel for close to 50 years. One Dungeons and Dragons Game Master proved his own bonds with his players by inviting them all to be a part of his wedding party, creating custom miniatures, dice, and dice bags as a part of the request.

Redditor Dipstickjimmy, the player invited to be the Best Man, shared photos of the gift packages he and his fellow players were given by the groom, Not_Naked_Penguin - who is also Dipstickjimmy’s cousin and Dungeon Master.

The wedding party proposal gift itself consisted of a neatly-packaged assortment of custom-made amenities no Dungeons and Dragons player can live without. Not_Naked_Penguin designed unique miniatures in the likeness of his companions using Heroforge, a website where people can design and paint fantasy and science fiction minis for their tabletop games. The groom designed each character as the class his real-life friends most represented, bought them matching dice and dice bags, and included a formal proposal certificate asking his friends to be a part of this next adventure in his life.

Not_Naked_Penguin also revealed that he and his fiancé also designed custom Dungeons and Dragons miniatures of themselves, too. Because their wedding is taking place in a greenhouse, they designed these minis with flower motifs and nature themes. Their matching minis will be displayed for all to see on the wedding cupcakes on their big day, though he shared pictures of them as well.

The response from fellow Dungeons and Dragons players was, of course, overwhelmingly supportive. Most of the comments were full of best wishes for the wedding couple, and compliments to the bride and groom-to-be for their ingenuity. Plenty of others fell in love with the idea and tucked the idea away for safekeeping so they could perform a similar gesture for their own Dungeons and Dragons tables when they get married someday.

Over the last decade, “Nerd Culture” has become more and more mainstream, with Dungeons and Dragons in particular gaining a surge in popularity thanks to the mainstream success of Critical Role and other similar shows. While nerdy proposals and weddings have always been done, the more recent surge in popularity means these gestures are becoming more common, and more readily-shared. Considering the uncertain state of the world, and the stressful circumstances everyone, including gamers, have endured over the past few years, such heartfelt stories are a most welcome diversion.
