He will leave DICE and leave some big shoes to fill.

Fawzi Mesmar, DICE's design director, left the studio shortly after the launch of his last project "Battlefield 2042". He has been at the helm since 2019 and has a prolific career in EA's top studios.

During DICE, Mesmar participated in a number of projects, including "Star Wars: Battlefield 2", "Battlefield 5" and more recently "Battlefield 2042."

As VGC reported, Mesmar plans to withdraw for a while because DICE is always looking for a successor. He announced his departure to his team in an email, and he said: “Serving the best design team in the galaxy is an absolute pleasure,” he wrote in an email to employees. "The incredible design work you do continues to inspire me every day. Thank you for your trust in me, and hope it doesn't disappoint me."

His email also mentioned that he would join another studio because he received a very profitable offer. His next position will be in Sweden, but the details have not been disclosed. Mesmar's career has been outstanding so far, and his work goes beyond his projects at DICE. According to his personal website, in 18 years, his work has brought him to all parts of the world. In these places, he worked as a game designer for the "Persona" and "Candy Crush Legends" series. Contributed.

Most importantly, he is also the author of the first ever Arabic game design textbook and co-authored nine comic books. If this is not enough, he is also a mentor, regularly giving lectures on game design in different schools. He also won the 2020 Game Development Hero Award in the Design category. Obviously, he will leave DICE with some big shoes.

However, it is worth noting that his departure coincided with "Battlefield 2042" getting into trouble. From the non-existent hit registration to the lost scoreboard, players have many complaints. "Battlefield 2042" also received a large number of negative Steam reviews, becoming one of the worst-rated games on the platform this year.

Although the chief designer has been actively responding to the concerns of fans on Twitter, the morale of the community still seems to be low. In order to try and improve it, DICE recently detailed the fixes for the latest patches it is deploying, but there is still a lot of work to be done.

In this case, the vacancy of a high-level position may be worrying, but since Mesmar mentioned that the studio is already looking for his successor, DICE seems to have everything in control.
