"Battlefield 2042" developer DICE revealed new details of the upcoming 3.1 patch, especially sharing new insights about the changes related to the portal mode and the XP process.

DICE said in a lengthy Twitter post that for battlefield portals, players can expect to get XP at "full price" in other modes of the game. This also applies to unlocking new weapons, ribbons, accessories, and mastery progress.

For the newly updated custom game modes of Battlefield 2042, the XP process was re-added in the 3.1 update, so players can upgrade by playing user-created modes, as well as unlock new vehicles, weapons and gadgets. DICE stated that after "careful and careful study" on how to best ensure "fairness and fun to all", it is bringing back the XP process for custom games.

The XP progress in customization has an upper limit per minute, and the upper limit is reset every minute. "If you trigger the upper limit, it won't prevent you from earning XP after triggering. The usually designed mode rewards to a large extent the same XP you get in CQ or BT," DICE said.

DICE limits XP in Customs to encourage players to build a real mode and not just an XP farm. "If there is no upper limit, the farm server will eventually saturate the server browser with a worthless experience, and we want to prevent this," DICE said.

DICE clarified that the newly updated custom game does not support ribbons, but players can still complete the game and win prizes with the same value as the rest of the game. DICE also stated that the new customs mode of Battlefield 2042 will not allow players to earn mastery rewards. "The mastery rewards are meant to demonstrate commitment, and we will not change this until we determine whether we can establish further protection measures," DICE said.

However, mastery rewards can be obtained through the official portal mode produced by DICE. DICE has not announced exactly when the 3.1 update will arrive, but given that the studio is talking about it, it may be released soon.

In other news, EA officially announced its plan to build a battlefield world, which includes a number of new "experiences", including stories from the new team of Halo veteran Marcus Lehto. In addition, Respawn boss Vince Zampella is overseeing the future development of the entire Battlefield series.
